Assessments
Multiple Choice
In the Multimedia SMARTBoard lesson there are fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice assessments within the lesson. These serve to assess student learning as the lesson progresses. As the final assessment for this lesson, students create their own multiple choice questions and answers based on the concepts from the lesson. I will select the best of those to create a quiz.
Essay
As independent practice for the Cooperative Learning lesson, students compose their own poem of at least five lines, with one example of figurative language. This poem will be inspired by the photograph "White Man's Moccasins" by Lee Marmon.

Project & Rubric
As a post assessment for the poetry unit, students will create a Glogster based on the poem of their choice. The Glogster should include quotes from the poem (if not the poem in its entirety), 3-5 examples of figurative language, and SOAPSTone. It should also be aesthetically pleasing, with a variety of fonts and images that illustrate concepts in the poem. The project will be evaluated from this rubric.
